How EOS Farms Breaks Boundaries with Cannabis Cultivated for Desired Effects

Written By Isabella DeChard

As rapidly as we’ve watched cannabis legalization unfold, the health and wellness industry has dramatically transformed its focus around the plant. From hemp-derived CBD to help with sleep disorders, or THC-isolated products promoting higher energy, the market is full of innovative products claiming to promote natural wellness. Yet despite the long history between cannabis and humans, we’re only scratching the surface of the health and wellness benefits the plant provides – especially as the scientific world attempts to measure and define these benefits more clearly.

Home Grown From My Basement To Yours w/ Jim Berry

Written By Jim Berry

Call it weed, dope, pot, herb, grass, whatever you’d like. I don’t personally call it marijuana because of the dubious nature of the term’s history, its racist connotations, and the way the term was used to demonize the plant by special interests. But, that story will have to wait because today, I’m here to write about the history of “Cannabis Sativa,” which has been the accepted classification of our favorite plant for about 270 years now.

Jim Berry’s Homegrown: From My Basement to Yours

Written By Jim Berry

I quickly became addicted to cannabis instead - not to the consumption, but rather the cultivation! For someone who never before had much patience for gardening, I was immediately hooked. I remember rushing home from work to see each day what new magic had occurred. I actually learned patience from cannabis. As my interest and experience grew, so did my operation. What started out as a 2x4 grow tent ended up being 10 lights, allowing me to produce about 75 pounds a year.

Exploring The Terroir Of The Mattole Valley: A Review Of Papaya Punch From Mattole valley Sungrown (Copy)

Written By Shelley Peebles

When I was deciding which cultivar to highlight for this article, it seemed only natural for me to discuss the Papaya Punch cultivar. I have tried papaya grown in many different regions, and different varieties, however, this one stands out by far. This is something I attribute to the terroir of the Lost Coast.

The thing I loved most about getting to revisit this cultivar is that it brought me back to Miranda, NorCal. I was visiting and reconnecting with some girlfriends. One had brought along some of this fantastic Papaya Punch from Mattole Valley Farms. We rolled one up and salsa danced, enjoying each other's company for hours.

Meet Doc Ray: Cannabis Legacy Grower & Medicinal Craft Practitioner

Written By Isabella DeChard

“This plant was there for me during a time in my life where it was either I take the mountains of opioids and psychotropics or find a more natural alternative.” When he began feeling a noticeable difference in his body, Doc Ray set out to not only medicate with cannabis but experiment with different specific cultivars that catered to these symptoms he regularly suffered.

1964-Lebanese Hash

Written By Matt Jerome

There has always been something mysterious to me about hash. It's like it knows secrets in its final expression that the cannabis plant only dreams of. Like honey, it stands the test of time. Like wine, it improves with age. Like cheese, its scent is distinct, despite its infinitesimal varieties. Its rich deep aromas, galactic hues, and varied textures have had a hold on me since I can remember. Hash is arguably the truest and purest expression of cannabis there is.

The Montana Tour: Fat Nugs Under Big SKies PT.1

Written By Veronica Castillo

Look around and you’ll witness recognition and respect of the original people of Montana. Listen and you’ll hear sacred speak. Inhale and you’ll pull the scent of pine into your body. Touch the soil or the massive boulders and feel the tightness in your body surrender to peace. Smoke a Montana grown fat nug and taste the rainbow. It took just two short weeks for me to fall in love with Montana; the spirit, the people, and of course: the cannabis. Journey with me as I take you from Missoula, to Kalispell, to Great Falls, to Bozeman, and to Billings with stops and drive throughs in Flathead Reservation, Blackfeet Country, Big Fork, Whitefish, Helena, and East and West Glacier National Park.

THE MONTANA TOUR: FAT NUGS UNDER BIG SKIES PT.2

Written By Veronica Castillo

What I’ll remember about this drive for the rest of my life, was driving through West Glacier National Park and seeing what I think is the tallest mountain I’ve seen in my life, with a very pointed top. I was mesmerized by it and was sad when it was no longer in view. I thought I lost it but then I saw it as the road curved. It was the center of attention and in perfect view. I never felt so country, my mouth was wide open in shock and in love. When I looked at the very top of it, winter was making circles around it, it was like… an AI creation.

Cannarchy In The UK:From Skunk To CBD

Written By Dave Barton

In Modern Britain, cannabis is at best tolerated and at worst yet *another* target for moral outrage. While high-strength THC flower – or ‘skunk’ – remains the illicit weed of choice for the British public, despite the UK being one of the world’s biggest producers of legal cannabis, Little Englanders of a certain age and status still clutch scornfully their pearls at a mere sniff of the ‘Evil Weed’.

But a new type of cannabis is being embraced across Britain – in the form of CBD. Yes, more open-minded, health conscious consumers are emerging here. But will a drive towards more mindful, intentional living pave the way for, and legitimise ‘therapeutic cannabis’?

Or are we Brits so hellbent on hedonistic indulgence that only super strong cannabis can compete with the copious amounts of alcohol we consume?

Montel Williams Veteran, Celebrity, Patient, Advocate

Written by Dustin Hoxworth, Lindsey Gunter

When most people hear the name Montel Williams, they immediately think of daytime TV, and not necessarily his reputation as one of the strongest cannabis advocates of our time. For Gen Xers and some Millennials, “The Montel Williams Show” was a staple in our households. The show ran for 17 years, the topics were sometimes sensational in nature and his guests at times controversial, which makes a lot of sense, as Montel was always someone who used his show to discuss the things he wanted. The show also provided the beginnings of a platform he needed to take on something even bigger, life changing, and life saving for so many people around the world; but before we get into Montel the cannabis advocate, there’s a lot you might not know about Montel Williams the person. Fat Nugs Magazine was privileged enough to interview and get to know him, his cannabis journey, and his predictions for the future.

Adopting Love: How Cannabis and Compassion Created My Family

Written By Mike Robinson

Many will say that a person doesn't have to be biological to be a father, which has always seemed like an odd statement until it became one of my own. Back in 2016, on the compassion trail where I traveled giving away Cannabis oils in copious amounts to patients in need, I came across Genevieve after her mom contacted me, and what's known as the Cannabis Love Story by many began.

La Ganja Estranja Interview

Written By Brian Cruz

“Hi, I’m Brian, a new writer for FNM.

Lately, I’ve been following cool celebrities online and manifesting friendships through requests for interviews. One of the kindest celebrities to have responded by far was Laganja Estranja (Jay Jackson).

At first, Laganja and I messaged about being from Dallas TX. I hoped to recruit her talents for an event in the Lower Greenville neighborhood. Then, my path intertwined with Dustin, Lindsey, Melanie, and the fine folk of Fat Nugs Magazine.

In December, I joined an FNM contributor call and then…

Alas, here I am; a bonafide writer.

Or something…

Long story short, in mid-February I sat down for a virtual interview with world renowned dancer, choreographer, drag artist, and cannabis advocate – Laganja Estranja.

Here is how it went:

A Ganjier review of Whitethorn Rose, grown by Huckleberry Hill Farms

Written By Shelley Peebles

Nestled among the redwoods of Southern Humboldt County, California - between Briceland and Whitethorn, lies a small, quaint farm. Johnny Casali and Rose Moberly of Huckleberry Hill Farms, known for producing some of the finest craft cannabis California has to offer, tend to vegetables, fruit trees, sheep, and several craft cannabis cultivars including the Whitethorn Rose.

Genetically speaking, the Whitethorn Rose is a cross between Lemon OG x Paradise Punch (aka Fruit Loops). This is way more complex and layered than a lot of other cultivars I have tried.

Tales From Swampland - Florida's MMJ License Exchange

Written By Grant Mitchell

Every songbird yearns for the southern hemisphere when temperatures are turning cold. Migratory fledglings are innately drawn south, they cover vast distances to secure food, nesting and finding a safe haven in winter. Our feathered friends are constantly in search of a better deal and a more accommodating environment. Perhaps, there is a little bit of a birdbrain migration phenomenon embedded in all of our psyches.

There I was again, feeling a familiarity repeating itself while I’m descending towards the tarmac, exactly one month later to the day when Hurricane Ian made landfall. Attendants were somber and gave an announcement of sympathy over the intercom, something unique I hadn’t heard before on a flight. Staring out the window, the plexiglass fogged up from the humidity. Wiping away the steam, the situation revealed itself. What was I in for here?

Since much of Cannabis Culture is built around respect and reverence for nature, respect for our growers, and acknowledgement of the people who’ve worked so hard to get us to this point; it’s only right that a true Cannabis Culture publication showcase these phenomenal women that provide us all with the thing we love most in this world; the most beautiful flower to ever exist.

My Journey With Cannabis Toward a Lighter Way of Living

Written By Scarlet Weaver

The first true experience I had with cannabis was in my late teens. In high school, I had a handful of people I knew who had smoked cannabis before. They always have the whole “Say no to drugs!” bullshit in school. You know the one, where they show you pictures of drug addicts and tell you that’s what will happen to you. I must admit I never once believed that cannabis would do any of the things they said it would. Being in the Bible Belt, I pretty much assumed most things I was taught were highly exaggerated because eternal damnation was on the line.

Bermuda: Home of the World’s Most Expensive Weed

Written By Conner Anderson

Imagine this.

You're researching locales for your next vacation. An ad pops up for Bermuda, featuring a couple sipping champagne on a balcony overlooking a light pink beach, where gentle waves roll ashore from shimmering, crystal waters that stretch out into the horizon - blissful hues that make you wonder whether someone slipped a quarter tab in your morning coffee.

Goodness, you think. This is the most idyllic smoke spot I’ve ever seen.

Google shows that Bermuda is not in the Caribbean. It’s about 600 miles east of South Carolina, the middle of nowhere. But, it’s an island.

Islands mean reggae. Reggae means pot growing between every crack and crevice, and Rasta stoners toking around every turn. Jackpot!

Naturally, you book a trip.
