One Button, and the Mobile App Does the Rest
There’s no LED display or arrow buttons on the unit itself. You get a single button and a ring of LED lights that give you a rough read on status, but for actual temperature control, you need to be connected.
Android users get a dedicated app, and if you’re on iPhone, Apple pulled vaporizer apps from the store back in 2019, so you’ll need to run the Storz & Bickel web app through Chrome instead. It’s not a dealbreaker once you’ve got it set up, but it does mean this isn’t a grab-and-go device the way Mighty+ is, so you’re tied to your phone for anything beyond the basic on and off.
I don’t really mind, though, because I’ve found that the device seems to have the optimal performance at 356 degrees Fahrenheit, so I usually just keep it at that temp.
Vapor Quality Hasn’t Been Compromised
This is what matters the most (to me, at least). Despite being the baby of the family, Crafty+ doesn’t cut corners where it counts. The chamber holds about a quarter gram, same as Mighty+, and the hybrid heating setup pulls hot air through the herb while the ceramic coating adds direct heat from contact, so you’re not missing out on density or flavor just because the device is smaller.
The vapor path stays completely isolated from the electronics too, which keeps the taste clean and consistent instead of picking up any weird plastic or metallic notes over time.
Battery Life Is the Compromise Here
If there’s one place Crafty+ clearly gives something up for its size, it’s here. You’re looking at roughly 45 to 60 minutes of use, good for about four or five refills before you need to plug back in, noticeably less than what Mighty+ offers.
Crafty+ doesn’t have true pass-through charging. When the heater is running, the charging process pauses, so if you let it die completely, you’re stuck waiting for it to build back up before you can fire it up again. USB-C charging on the newer version at least means you’re not stuck with the older, slower micro-USB cable from the original release.
Just don’t expect to leave the house for a full day and skip bringing the cord, and don’t count on plugging in a dead unit and hitting it right away.
The Same Storz and Bickel Quality
Crafty+ uses the same medical-grade materials and heat-resistant construction you’d expect from Storz & Bickel, and the outer shell is designed specifically to help dissipate heat and not trap it against your hand. It’s backed by the standard two-year warranty, which stretches to three years once you register the device, so even at the lower price point, you’re not getting a corner-cut version of what the brand stands for.
Cleaning and Upkeep
Day-to-day, this is about as low-maintenance as it gets. Brush out the chamber after you’re done, and you’re set for the next session. The cooling unit is where things get slightly more involved since it breaks down into several small pieces: mouthpiece, cap, cap lock, straw, a couple of O-rings, and the screens.
Every so often, pull those apart, remove the O-rings first, and let everything soak in isopropyl alcohol before rinsing and drying fully. If flavor starts tasting off even after a proper clean, that usually means the cooling unit itself has run its course, and a replacement is a cheap, easy fix.
What’s in the Box
Here’s what comes in the box with your Crafty+ vaporizer:
- USB-C charging cable
- Normal screens
- Coarse screens
- O-rings
- Cleaning brush
- Instruction manual
They don’t include the filling tool or the grinder anymore with the Crafty+. You used to get both with the original, but now you have to buy them separately.
