Smithers and CannaMetrix, LLC enter into an agreement to exclusively offer Biological Potency Testing

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE : (Fairlawn, Ohio, USA) April 7, 2026 — Smithers, a global provider of testing, inspection, consulting, and compliance services, announced today that its Cannabis Testing Services division has entered an exclusive partnership with CannaMetrix, a biotechnology company specializing in cell-based assays that measure biological cannabis potency. Through this agreement, Smithers will be the exclusive laboratory partner offering CannaMetrix’s patented biological potency testing, expanding Smithers’ cannabis testing portfolio beyond chemical composition analysis to include functional measurement of cannabinoid and terpene activity in human cell models.

CannaMetrix’s EC50 cell-based assays are designed to measure receptor-level activity within the human endocannabinoid system, providing an additional data layer that can support product development, batch consistency studies, and scientific substantiation efforts. “Partnering allows Smithers to offer biological potency data alongside analytical testing, giving clients a more complete understanding of product performance.
