Years of friendship, real-world growing and shared belief in home grow become official as Buttheadz joins FNM for a new wave of creator-driven cultivation content.
ATLANTA, Ga. & JACKSON, Mo., August 25, 2026: Fat Nugs Magazine (FNM), the independent cannabis media platform built around community, culture, education, and the people doing the work, is proud to officially announce a new Brand Partnership with Buttheadz Living Soil and founder Erick Englehart.
In reality, this partnership didn’t start today; it’s been growing for years. Englehart and Buttheadz have been part of the extended FNM family long before any agreement was signed. FNM Founder and Editor-at-Large Dustin Hoxworth has personally used Buttheadz soil for more than a year across his own garden, while FNM growers Derrall Peach and Daniel Crawford have also worked with soil supplied by Erick. The results, the relationship, and the shared belief in helping people become better growers made an official partnership feel less like a new beginning and more like the next natural step.
That next step becomes even more powerful with FNM Official Content Creator Katie Gordon, whose home grow content has quickly become one of the publication’s most distinctive content lanes. Gordon brings the learning curve of cultivation down to earth, combining real growing, trial and error, humor, personality, and an attitude that makes home growing feel possible instead of intimidating.
“Katie has become an absolute beast on the home grow front for us,” said Hoxworth. “She has this ability to teach without making people feel like they’re sitting in a classroom. She makes growing fun, inviting, messy, funny, and attainable, which is exactly what home grow content should be. Erick fits that perfectly because he isn’t just selling bags of soil. He cares about people succeeding. I’ve used Buttheadz for more than a year now, and I can say from my own experience that all of my plants love it. Erick has supported our growers, supported me personally, and been a friend. We’ve basically been partnering already. Now we finally get to put a name on it and build something bigger together.”
Buttheadz describes its mission as helping make the world better by spreading knowledge about growing homegrown foods and medicines while providing growers with practical products, experience and support. Its Living Soil is built around coir fiber, cotton burr compost and rice hulls, with an emphasis on nutrient-rich soil, water retention, drainage and reducing unnecessary grow inputs. Sustainability is also central to the company’s approach.
For FNM, those values align directly with a much larger mission around home grow. Growing cannabis at home should not feel reserved for master cultivators, commercial operators, or people with expensive rooms full of equipment. It can be a backyard, a basement, a tent, a closet, or a few plants tended by somebody who simply wants to learn. The partnership with Buttheadz will help FNM continue building social content that shows the process honestly, celebrates the wins, owns the mistakes, and helps more people get their hands in the soil.
“That’s what I love about home grow,” said Gordon. “You do not have to know everything before you start. You learn by doing, by paying attention to your plants, by screwing something up, fixing it, and getting better the next time. But having good soil underneath you changes everything. Erick has built something that makes my job easier and gives me a strong foundation to grow from. I’m excited because this partnership lets us create content that is educational without being boring and useful without pretending there is only one right way to grow. I want people watching me to think, ‘Hell, I can do that too.’”
Englehart has built Buttheadz around more than product. Education, community gardens, grower support, and helping people understand what’s happening beneath the plant have become recurring themes throughout his work and public conversations. Recent interviews have highlighted his focus on living soil, cultivation education, community and giving back.
“Fat Nugs has always understood that this culture is about people first,” said Englehart. “Dustin, Katie, Daniel, Derrall and the whole team actually use the products, grow with them, ask questions and share what they learn. That matters to me. Buttheadz was built to help people grow better plants and to make good soil and good information accessible to everyday growers. Katie brings exactly the kind of energy home grow needs. She makes people want to jump in and try. I’m proud to officially be a Brand Partner with FNM and excited to see how much we can grow together.”
The new partnership will center heavily on creator-driven social content featuring Gordon and Buttheadz Living Soil while also connecting Buttheadz to FNM’s broader media ecosystem and cultivation storytelling. Sometimes the best partnerships are not manufactured in a boardroom. They grow out of friendship, trust, shared work and a product people already believe in.
