FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — CannaGuard PRO™, an EPA-registered disinfectant platform engineered for commercial plant grows and controlled-environment agriculture, today announced a strategic partnership and investment from Modern Canna Labs, one of the nation’s leading cannabis and hemp testing laboratories.
As part of the partnership, Modern Canna has made a strategic investment in CannaGuard PRO and taken an ownership position in the company following extensive evaluation, facility-level implementation, and operational review of the product platform.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to advancing proactive quality systems across the cannabis industry through improved sanitation infrastructure, operational consistency, and contamination prevention practices.
Modern Canna evaluated CannaGuard PRO’s sanitation platform through real-world application and sanitation workflows commonly used in cultivation and processing environments. The review process focused on how the product integrates into facility SOPs, supports operational efficiency, and aligns with the evolving quality expectations facing commercial cannabis operators.
As cannabis cultivation and processing operations continue to scale nationally, operators face increasing pressure to maintain strict quality standards while minimizing downtime, protecting sensitive infrastructure, and improving operational consistency across facilities. Sanitation protocols have become a critical part of that conversation, particularly within enclosed cultivation and post-harvest environments where contamination-related setbacks can create operational, financial, and compliance challenges.
Both companies believe the cannabis industry is continuing to shift toward a more proactive quality model, where facility readiness, environmental controls, sanitation infrastructure, and operational discipline play a larger role alongside traditional end-stage testing.
“Modern Canna’s decision to invest in CannaGuard PRO after such a thorough evaluation process is incredibly meaningful to our team,” said Jeff Heeren, CEO of CannaGuard PRO. “This partnership represents a shared belief that quality begins long before final testing. It starts with clean infrastructure, consistent procedures, and products specifically designed for the realities of cannabis operations.”
Unlike many conventional sanitation chemistries, CannaGuard PRO was designed to support frequent operational use without harsh chemical smell, corrosive residue, or extensive PPE requirements beyond protective eyewear. The patented platform was engineered specifically for controlled-environment agriculture, commercial cultivation facilities, processing operations, and other high-frequency sanitation environments where equipment compatibility and workflow efficiency are essential.
The product is currently used across a wide range of cultivation infrastructure and sanitation applications, including propagation equipment, irrigation systems, grow room surfaces, processing environments, greenhouse equipment, nutrient reservoirs, clone trays, hydroponic systems, and facility sanitation SOPs.
According to both organizations, operational usability was a major component of the evaluation process. Modern Canna assessed how the product fit into existing workflows, whether teams could realistically integrate it into daily sanitation procedures, and how the chemistry aligned with the needs of modern cannabis facilities operating under increasingly demanding production schedules.
“Cannabis operators are under increasing pressure to maintain consistent quality standards while improving operational efficiency,” said George Fernandez, CEO of Modern Canna. “We believe CannaGuard PRO offers a differentiated sanitation platform purpose-built for the cannabis industry and aligned with the direction modern facility operations are heading.”
The partnership also reflects broader industry movement toward integrated quality systems that combine testing, environmental management, sanitation practices, SOP development, and contamination prevention strategies into a more unified operational framework.
The companies plan to collaborate on continued industry education, sanitation best practices, and operational quality initiatives aimed at helping cannabis operators strengthen facility standards and reduce contamination-related risk.
In addition to cultivation operations, both companies see long-term opportunities to support processors, laboratories, tissue culture facilities, and other cannabis-adjacent environments requiring repeatable sanitation protocols and infrastructure-focused quality systems.
