Blunt Horoscopes: Astrology for the High Life, July 2025

What’s in the Stars? July’s Monthly Overview

Keep your calming medicine at the ready, kids, because this month will be noisy and a little chaotic. We begin with Uranus entering Gemini on July 7th for the first time in 84 years. Uranus, the planet of disruption and innovation, has spent the last seven years in slow-moving Taurus, where sudden change had to unfold in stages. Now, in the fast-paced and communicative sign of Gemini, expect rapid advancements in technology, particularly in artificial intelligence, along with new ways of interacting and expressing ideas. Just a few days later, the Full Moon in Capricorn on July 10th may create tension between emotional needs and professional expectations. With Saturn about to station retrograde near Neptune, the boundaries and structures you’ve relied on could start to dissolve. Be prepared for unexpected shifts or setbacks, and try to avoid major commitments or presentations that day.

The cosmic complexity continues as Mercury stations retrograde in Leo on July 17th, which may bring miscommunications, tech issues, or schedule disruptions. Mercury will remain retrograde until August 11th, so double-check your plans and avoid signing contracts during this time, if possible. On July 22nd, the Sun moves into Leo and encourages bold self-expression, creativity, and authenticity. This is a time to celebrate what makes you unique and to show up fully as yourself. The month closes with a challenging New Moon in Leo on July 24th, directly opposite Pluto in Aquarius. While new moons typically mark fresh beginnings, this one may bring hidden truths to the surface or expose hidden power dynamics requiring transformation. Some of this may unfold in the public sphere, but it can also show up in your personal life if there are secrets waiting to be revealed.

July 2025 Horoscopes

Aries (March 20 – April 19)

On the night of July 12th, Saturn will station retrograde. A retrograde planet appears to be moving backwards in the night sky because of its position in the heavens relative to Earth. Saturn is the planet of structure, limitations, deadlines, harvests, and consequences. Saturn just moved into Aries back in May, so this is the first time it will station in either direction in Aries. The first time Saturn stationed retrograde in Pisces coincided with the implosion of the Titan submersible back in 2023. Out in the world, we may see a leader or a head of state being held responsible for their words or actions. In your own life, you may discover that a decision you made, that you thought was reasonable or well-researched, will not support the outcome you were expecting. Don’t be surprised if you have to suddenly shift course on or around July 12.

Taurus (April 19 – May 20)

Venus, the planet of love, beauty, art, and kindness, with conjunct Uranus, the planet of sudden changes, revolution, and electricity on the morning of July 4th. This could make for some unusually innovative fireworks displays in the United States. In your own life, you may catch romantic feelings for someone new, or you may catch a new feeling for someone in your recurring cast of characters. Remember that courage and vulnerability are the same thing, and don’t be afraid to share those feelings. If that doesn’t make sense, then devote some time to your preferred artistic expression. The conjunction between Venus and Uranus may provide some sudden inspiration,n and you’ll want to be able to dive into your art straight away.

Gemini (May 20 – June 20)

The planet of love, beauty, art, and kindness will enter your first house of self, vitality, and identity on July 4th! This transit only happens about once a year. This is a great time to update your wardrobe or your accessories, get a new haircut, or try new beauty products. It can also be a great time to explore what supplements you take. If you’ve been curious about ashwagandha or functional mushrooms, for example, you’ll have an easier time adapting new nutritional boosters into your daily regimen. At a minimum, play around with how you want to present yourself to the world. Fearlessly embrace new possibilities in the ways that your appearance relates to your identity. On July 30th, Venus will enter Cancer and your second house of earned income and financial resources.

Cancer (June 20 – July 22)

The new moon this month falls on July 24th and lands in your second house of earned income and financial resources. You may be starting a side hustle, or perhaps you’ve discovered a way to monetize one of your hobbies. Normally, this would be great but not everything is as it seems right now. Pluto is exactly opposite this new moon. Something about your new revenue stream has implications for your community. Have you thoroughly examined the tax liabilities for this idea? Do you know how your housemates feel about you working late into the night on your craft? If you’re considering student loans, do you know how those can affect your ability to seek credit later on? As a Cancer, you understand better than most the interconnection of individuals with their communities. You’ll need to intellectually explore the ways this financial opportunity could disrupt those who live in community with you.

Leo (July 22 – August 22)

There’s some tension in the air eh, Leo? Generally, you’re a very charismatic sign, but something around the time of the new moon in your first house has you chafing under the expectations of a partner. On or around July 24th, you could be feeling like you’re ready to make some changes for yourself. This could be anything related to your diet, your exercise habits, the clothes you wear, or even your haircut. A partner in either love or business is unlikely to respond well to these changes. You may feel like these edits fall squarely under the umbrella of “self-improvement,” and are yours to make freely. Nevertheless, someone who expects a little more from you feels, at a minimum, that they should have been consulted. Remember the butterfly effect – even small changes can have tremendous effects on the community or environment at large.

Virgo (August 22 – September 22)

On July 20th, the planet Mars will make a conjunction with the South Node of the Moon in the sign of Virgo. One of the many significations of Mars is a knife, or the action of cutting. (Medical astrologers will not recommend surgeries when the position of Mars is not favorable). The South Node is a mathematical point representing release or letting go. If you’ve been holding onto something that no longer serves you, you should expect to see it cut out of your life around the time of July 20th. The problem there is that we don’t always know what no longer serves us. Sometimes the cosmos yank things away from us while we’re still enjoying them. If you experience a loss mid-month, try to lean into the idea that it is somehow for the best.

Libra (September 22 – October 22)

Late on July 12th, Saturn will station retrograde in the sign of Aries, which rules your 7th house of marriage, business partnerships, and other contractual relationships. Saturn is the planet of structure, rules, responsibilities, limitations, and harvests. This planet typically struggles in the youthful, headstrong sign of Aries. A committed partner in either love or business may pull focus at this time, making demands that you either thought had been met or that you never saw coming. Aries tends to be a quick-moving, even impulsive sign, so you might feel like this person is behaving like a petulant child. The more you can see their actions as evidence of who they are – and not who you are, the better you’ll be able to manage your response.

Scorpio (October 22 – November 21)

It’s your time to shine, Scorpio. When the sun moves into Leo on July 22nd, which rules your 10th house of career, fame, honors, awards, and your reputation, you’ll experience an influx of light and warmth into your career. Even better: the Sun is at home in the sign of Leo, which means this luminary can move and act with ease. The ideas you float in meetings will be met with optimism and appreciation. The projects you’ve worked on will encounter new reasons for praise. You might even be up for a raise or a promotion. Friends and neighbors may single you out for advice or recommend your services to their friends and neighbors. This transit happens once a year, so take action during this time. Make bold choices!

Sagittarius (November 21 – December 21)

Do you work for yourself, Sag? There’s a transit coming this month that ought to bring an influx of clients or collaborators. Uranus, the planet of sudden change, upheaval, revolutions, electricity, and innovation, will move into your 7th house of contractual relationships in the early morning of July 7th. Traditionally, the 7th house rules any relationship that comes with a contract, such as a marriage contract or a business contract. If you work for yourself, or if it’s your job to bring in new clients or prospects, Uranus will help you with that. This planet of constant surprises will ensure that you don’t have to work too hard to find new leads. Of course, the flip side of this is that not all of them will stick around, easy come, easy go, and all that. Remember to start the process with a contract and get your money up front whenever possible.

Capricorn (December 21 – January 19)

Something is blooming for you around the time of the full moon on July 10th. The moon will be in your first house of Capricorn while the Sun is directly opposite in Cancer and your 7th house of committed partnerships. You might be finalizing a deal with a business partner or making a serious commitment to a romantic partner. Proceed with caution, though. Saturn is the ruler of this full moon, which is very close to Neptune and in Aries, the sign of its exile. Something may not be as it seems. If there’s a contract, be sure to examine all of the fine print carefully. If you’re making a commitment, be sure that everyone is completely clear on their expectations. This full moon brings a warning, not a signal of impending doom. Complete your due diligence, and all will be well.

Aquarius (January 19 – February 18)

The new moon on July 24th could bring something to light for you, especially relating to your significant other(s) in either love or business. This new moon isn’t easy – it’s directly opposite Pluto, which is transiting through your first house of self, identity, and vitality. The Sun gives off light and warmth while Pluto rules the dark, quiet underworld. The Sun is opposite Pluto once a year, but it isn’t usually accompanied by a new moon. This is a powerful transit that could have you rethinking how you interact in a particular partnership. You may discover previously unknown facts or circumstances around this time. Conversely, if you’ve been keeping vital information to yourself, expect to have that exposed around this time.

Pisces (February 18 – March 20)

On July 7th, the planet Uranus, which signifies surprise, innovation, electricity, and revolution, will enter the sign of Gemini and your fourth house of home, family, ancestors, and origin stories. Uranus will be in this sign for the next seven years, during which it might bring sudden changes to your residence or the ways in which you understand your family. If you’ve never explored your genealogy, you may learn that Great Uncle Ferdinand didn’t emigrate from the homeland you thought he had. Or, you may learn that his reasons for doing so didn’t align with what you had been told. Or, you may find greater sympathy for your parents and the struggles they faced. Get ready to understand your origin story in a whole new way.

Cancer Season Ritual: The Hearth Within

A cozy, solo ritual to honor nourishment, memory, and belonging

What You’ll Need

  • A cannabis edible (preferably one that you have made yourself, but store-bought will do)
  • A warm drink (tea, cocoa, or coffee would be lovely)
  • A small kitchen towel or apron (optional, symbolic of the domestic space)
  • A notebook or sheet of paper
  • A candle (or soft lamp light)
  • A quiet kitchen or table space

Step One: Prepare the Space

Set the stage by tidying a small corner of your kitchen or table. Light a candle. Drape your towel or apron over the chair, the table, or your lap just to symbolically invoke the spirit of the kitchen caretaker. Say aloud or silently: “I carry the warmth of those who came before me. May this space be loving and gentle, and may I be loving and gentle within it.”

Step Two: Invite the Medicine

Take your edible with intention. Before you eat it, hold it in your hand and think of something or someone that makes you feel held, safe, or seen. This could be a memory, a person, or even a version of yourself. Eat slowly. Sip your warm drink. Let the experience unfold at its own pace.

Step Three: Reflect on your Ancestors

In your notebook, draw or list 3 to 5 things that represent family or legacy to you. These could be:

  • Phrases your grandmother used to say
  • The smell of your childhood kitchen
  • A recipe you always return to
  • Someone who taught you how to love or care for yourself
  • A dream you inherited

Let yourself be loose and nostalgic. There’s no right way. Once the edible begins to take effect, close your eyes and breathe deeply. Ask yourself:

  • Where do I come from biologically, emotionally, or energetically?
  • What kind of family do I want to create (chosen or otherwise)?
  • How can I tend to myself the way I wish I’d been tended?

You can write your reflections, or just rest in the warmth of the kitchen light.

Step Four: Snuff out the Candle

Blow out the candle or gently dim the light. Say: “The hearth is quiet, but the flame remains in me.” Clean up slowly and intentionally, as if you’re caring for the home of a beloved elder. Then let the rest of the evening be soft.
