Gin and Chronic Mocktail Recipe

This recipe first appeared in the Legacy edition of Fat Nugs Magazine.

The standard gin and tonic is a beverage that dates back to the 1820s when British officers in India began mixing gin into their daily ration of Cinchona Tonic, a beverage created from the bark of the Cinchona Tree.

The modern take on this drink can be as simple as adding tonic water to gin and calling it a day. Alternatively, the drink can be as complex as flavoring the gin, adding other liquors, syrups, bitters, and garnishing with floral bouquets and exotic citrus.

For our Gin and Chronic mocktail, we won’t go too simple, and we’ll remove alcohol from the equation as we’ll be dosing with intoxicating cannabinoids and want to avoid overserving or mixing. This also gives us the ability to serve the THC and CBD customized to each drink.

How to Make a Gin and Chronic Mocktail

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz non-alcoholic gin
  • 4 oz tonic water
  • Water-soluble THC. Suggested: 5 mg per drink
  • Water-soluble CBD. Suggested: 10 mg per drink
  • Grenadine
  • Lime, and any other garnishes you enjoy

Directions:

  1. Add 1 oz of N/A gin to your glass.
  2. Add 1 leaf of mint and muddle gently to release the flavors of the oils.
  3. Add THC and CBD drops to the glass. I would suggest 5 mg THC and 10 mg CBD to mimic the effects of a standard alcoholic gin and tonic, but you can adjust the levels based on your preference and the tolerance of each guest being served.
  4. Add ice
  5. Fill the glass with tonic water. You get what you pay for here; good tonic stands apart from base tonics.
  6. Stir well.
  7. Add a drop of grenadine for color and taste.
  8. Garnish with a slice of lime, lemon, or even a flower. Why not?
  9. Enjoy!
