Collaboration increases capacity to serve more veterans by covering 100% of physician and state fees
[Casselberry, FL] — February 24, 2026 — Veterans Cannabis Care has already helped more than 1,000 Florida veterans receive 100% free access to the state’s medical cannabis program. Now, through a new partnership with DocMJ, the organization is expanding its ability to serve even more. The two Florida-based organizations today announced a collaboration that increases capacity for Veterans Cannabis Care’s existing program, which fully covers both physician certification costs and Florida’s required state registration fees for eligible veterans.
This is not a discount initiative or limited-time campaign. Veterans Cannabis Care has been funding free access since its founding. The partnership with DocMJ strengthens the clinical infrastructure behind that mission, allowing more veterans across Florida to be evaluated and certified at no cost.
“This initiative is simple: veterans receive free access, and we stand behind them,” said Aaron Bloom, CEO of DocMJ. “We’re committed to giving back to those who served, and providing free care is how we honor their dedication. Compassionate care is at the heart of what we do. We believe that those who have served deserve access to care. Through this partnership, we’re honored to offer veterans free medical cannabis evaluations, ensuring they receive the support they need.”
Veterans often navigate chronic pain, PTSD, traumatic brain injury, sleep disorders, and other service-related conditions. Because cannabis remains federally prohibited, VA physicians cannot prescribe or formally recommend it. Veterans must instead enter Florida’s regulated program independently and pay out of pocket.
For many, those upfront costs are the barrier. Veterans Cannabis Care was created to remove that barrier entirely. To date, the nonprofit has self funded more than 1000 free certifications and helped guide over 8,000 patients through the medical cannabis process through its affiliated clinical network, including Marijuana Express M.D. The partnership with DocMJ expands that reach by leveraging one of the state’s largest physician-led cannabis practices. Since 2016, DocMJ has conducted more than 400,000 patient visits and built a broad clinical footprint across Florida.
“This has everything to do with dignity,” said Robb Harmon, Founder of Veterans Cannabis Care and President of Marijuana Express M.D. “Veterans shouldn’t have to fight another battle just to access care. We’ve already seen what happens when the financial barrier is removed. People get help. Partnering with DocMJ allows us to reach more veterans, faster, without changing our commitment to covering 100% of the cost.”
With suicide rates among veterans significantly higher than the civilian population and many veterans living on fixed incomes, access to alternative treatment options can be out of reach. By combining nonprofit funding with expanded physician availability, the collaboration ensures: that 100% of physician evaluation fees are covered, 100% of Florida state registration fees are covered, and expanded appointment availability statewide.
“We believe access programs should be structural, not symbolic,” Harmon added. “If this industry wants to stand for something, it starts with the people who stood for us.”

Founded in 2021, Veterans Cannabis Care is a Florida-based 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to improving Veterans’ quality of life by providing 100% FREE access to the state’s Medical Marijuana program. As the first organization of its kind in Florida, Veterans Cannabis Care covers the costs of first-time patient appointments as well as the state fees, removing financial barriers that prevent many veterans, especially those on fixed incomes or experiencing homelessness, from accessing cannabis as a safe, natural alternative to traditional pharmaceuticals. Through its compassionate mission, the organization seeks to address the pressing mental and physical health challenges Veterans face, including chronic pain, PTSD, and depression. With nearly one in four unhoused Americans being veterans and suicide rates more than double those of non-veterans, Veterans Cannabis Care believes that cannabis can be a life-changing tool for healing, stability, and hope.
