Vertical Cannabis Increases Yield and Community Impact with Climate as a Service Partnership

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — St. Joseph, MOVertical Cannabis, a leading Missouri cultivator and dispensary, has doubled its yields and boosted monthly revenue by nearly $500,000 after adopting Climate as a Service (CaaS) from Harvest Integrated. The decision, led by recently appointed CEO John Duncan—a founding executive and former CFO—marks a major operational leap for the vertically integrated brand known for premium, small-batch flower.

Previously constrained by an HVACD system undersized by nearly 50%, Vertical partnered with Harvest Integrated to implement a fully serviced, cannabis-specific climate platform. The switch eliminated major capital expenditure, stabilized temperature and humidity, and delivered an immediate 20 grams-per-square-foot yield increase.

“How quickly, as the CFO, did I realize the benefit of the CaaS model? Immediately—it was a no-brainer,” said Duncan.

With consistent environmental control, Vertical’s cultivation team optimized strain-specific setpoints to enhance phenotypic expression and the awards started rolling in. In the 2024 High Times Cannabis Cup Missouri, Vertical Cannabis took home two awards Aloha Limone earned Third Place in the Sativa Flower category while Platinum Papaya Mimosa won Second Place for Hybrid Flower.

“As a service model, CaaS lets growers focus on plants instead of HVAC maintenance and management” said a Harvest Integrated CEO John Zimmerman. “Vertical Cannabis is a perfect example of performance through partnership.”

Beyond operational gains and trophies, Vertical continues to strengthen community ties. The company participates in statewide food drives and supports local women’s shelters reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility while growing its brand presence across Missouri.

Vertical’s vertically integrated model; cultivation, processing, and retail under one roof allows every gain in production to translate directly to higher quality product and customer satisfaction. The company’s dispensary in St. Joseph continues to report rapid sell-through and glowing reviews for its top-shelf flower.
