Facility Tour, Review & Fat Nugs First Canine-Human Interview
You know that feeling you get when you meet people who are on the same wavelength as you are? Like you’re destined to be friends? Well, I met the crew of Charlie’s cannabis at the Cannaland event here in Arizona last April. We had a good conversation, and they invited me for a tour of their production facility, which I happily accepted.

A few things were apparent right from the get-go at my facility tour; These guys were running a tight operation, and the facility was extremely clean and organized.
I’ve been in a lot of different facilities in many different markets around the country, and this manufacturing facility was towards the top of the list.
We got to talking about their operations, and the team mentioned using automation for their infused pre-rolls. I immediately thought of my good friends at Sorting Robotics and wasn’t disappointed. Charlie’s was rocking the Jiko Automated Hash Hole Robot.
I know the capabilities of this machine from working with the Sorting Robotics crew. There are many reasons it’s the Cadillac of joint infusing machines: speed, precision, accuracy, quality, and customer service set the Jiko and Sorting Robotics apart. Convenience, sure, but even more so, prerolls have risen in popularity and to the top of customers’ dispensary purchase list because of consistency.
Next, we ventured to the actual production area, where I was greeted with some fire flower and rosin. Charlie’s uses some of the dankest flower and rosin produced by Grow Sciences. If you’ve never experienced Grow Sciences products, you’re missing out. Founded in Arizona in 2017 with a focus on craft cannabis, their unit market price is one of the few brands whose quality consistently reflects the $50 an 1/8th price tag (wait for the day of the week your local dispensary has it discounted for a better price point).
As I walked down the hallway where the offices were located, I saw a poster of Amy Van Dyken-Rouen, a Gold medal swimmer and cannabis advocate whom I happened to interview for our Fat Nugs Sports Edition in the Spring of 2024.
When this many people from my circle are intersecting, it reaffirms my intuition about the Charlie’s crew being dope-ass people. Before departing, I received a tasty care package and a unique Canine-Human interview with the pup that started it all, Charlie.

Blast of classic NRDZ/RNTZ pungent around smacked to the back of the dome upon cracking open the pack. Great sign the terpenes remain intact.
Dry pull was a full mouthful of classic NRDZ/RNTZ flavor. It was a perfect balance between Sheb and Gelato, sweet with a bit of caryophyllene spice on the back end. Mouthwatering and coats the palate with a greasy feel.
After lighting up, the dry pull flavor was magnified in a delicious candy Gelato/NRDZ right on the top of the tongue. Greasy oil ring after two puffs. Smooth through the last toke. Lingering, delicious aftertaste.
One week after opening the pack, I’m happy to report that joint number three was just as tasty as joint number one. Every joint burned perfectly from start to finish.

Pungent, loud, and straight gas. If you’re a rosin fan and like strains with gas, ohhh doggie, this is one to get your hands on. Slight fruity notes on the backend. Reeks of rosin oil.
Dry pull, sweet cherries, and gassy rosin oil. Smoked slightly sweet, slight gas with a fruity tropical citrus flavor. Lingering gas on the tongue. I want more! Like a two gram with 0.5 grams of rosin. Burned perfectly from tip to crutch.

🐶 Honestly, it’s the best job ever. As the canine executive officer, I get to keep things chill while making sure we’re delivering only quality cannabis. 🐾 Oh, I love it! I’m the CEO, so I’m the one making sure everything runs smoothly. My favorite part? Seeing how people light up when they recognize me. I’m not just the face of the brand, I’m the paws behind the plan. When I roll up, it’s all about delivering that premium product, and, of course, getting those sweet head scratches from the team. It’s a win-win!
Q: Do you get to try out new treats and products?
🐶 I’m always testing new stuff! Every Charlie has to pass my quality control sniffer — I won’t put my face on anything that doesn’t meet my high standards. We start with artisanal small-batch nugs from partners like Sonoran Roots and Grow Sciences. I also love my classic puppuccinos, but don’t worry, no dog-approved product goes out without my seal of approval.
Q: What’s your favorite cannabis-infused treat, and do you have a go-to spot for relaxing after a long day of being a brand ambassador?
🌞 CBD dog biscuits — they hit the spot. After a long day of brand-building, I’m all about chilling poolside, getting sun-baked, and of course, taking naps. Toss in a belly rub and an infused Charlie, and I’m living the dream.
Q: Do you think your calm demeanor helps promote the cannabis brand’s relaxing vibe?
🐕 Totally! As the face and CEO of Charlie’s, I’m all about promoting wellness and balance through cannabis. Whether I’m hosting wellness events or just enjoying the good vibes, I embody the chill, relaxed atmosphere that Charlie’s represents. Q: How long have you been a part of the cannabis industry, Charlie?
