Blunt Horoscopes: Astrology for the High Life, August 2025

The dog days of summer are howling as August rolls in. As usual, we have a new moon (in Virgo), a full moon (in Aquarius), and in between, we have a bunch of loud, disruptive transits all clustered together.

August at a Glance: Monthly Overview

Most months see the transits spaced out enough so that you can get a sense for them individually. Not so this month. August 8th – 10th will be active, intense days as Mars will kick off an interplanetary, heavyweight battle with four other planets. In the midst of that is a full moon in Aquarius (ruled by Saturn, which is one of the planets that Mars is beefing with). That full moon will be disruptive and will likely feature themes relating to protest, collectivism, or even rebellion. Then, on August 23rd, we have a new moon in Virgo.  By this point, we should have returned to normalcy somewhat.

Don’t get too comfortable, though. Next month brings us back to eclipse season, where the updates and downloads come hard and fast.

Blunt Horoscopes for August 2025

Aries (March 20 – April 19)

The planetary ruler of the sign of the Ram is Mars, which will enter Libra on August 6th. Traditionally, Mars feels on the back foot in this sign. Libra is the sign of beauty, harmony, negotiation, and diplomacy, none of which are the strong suit of the warrior planet. In the sign of Libra, Mars has to work cooperatively with others.

You may find that your primary relationships need a little extra attention, or you may be even more driven to accommodate the wishes of those nearest and dearest. Either way, lean into the fact that you may not be center stage for the next month and a half. The energy you spend prioritizing those around you will find its way back to you. Mars will remain in Libra until September 22nd, when it will move into Scorpio.

Taurus (April 19 – May 20)

One of the best days of the year will happen on August 11th in your third house of communication, siblings, short-distance travel, and your neighborhood. On that day, Venus will make a conjunction with Jupiter in the sign of Cancer. Anytime the two benefics of the zodiac come together, it’s good news. But in Cancer, it’s even more so. Jupiter is exalted in Cancer, which means it’s empowered to do its very best work in this sign.

If you want to start journaling, or if you have a presentation to give at work, or if you’ve been meaning to spend some quality time with your siblings (either those related to you, or chosen by you), choose August 11th to do so. The astrology of this day will ensure that whatever you choose to do goes smoothly and evolves into a wonderful memory.

Gemini (May 20 – June 20)

Have you been forgetful lately? Miss a deadline? Forget to cancel that dentist appointment? Did you lose your phone or your keys? I’m not saying you’ll find them again, but if you’ve been on the struggle bus lately, you’re about to disembark. Just after midnight on August 11th, Mercury will finally station direct. Mercury is the planetary ruler of the sign of Gemini, and it has been retrograde in Leo since July 17th.

For you, this was happening in your 3rd house of short-distance travel, communications, writing, siblings, and your neighborhood. This is one of the more challenging houses in which to endure a Mercury retrograde transit, because short-distance travel and communication have a natural connection to the messenger planet. If you’ve dropped the ball on appointments or obligations, you should start to catch a break in the second half of August.

Cancer (June 20 – July 22)

One of the best days of the year has you reaping all of the benefits, Cancer. Instead of giving the TLC, you’ll be on the receiving end this time. On August 11th, Venus will make a conjunction with Jupiter in the sign of Cancer and your first house of self, identity, appearance, and vitality. How you offer self-care and love to yourself is up for review at this time.

Self-care isn’t just bubble baths and champagne. It’s also the choices you make at the grocery store, and the people you allow into your life. This transit may spark a sudden change for you in either how you care for yourself or the ways you understand your being. You may decide to change your diet, or your bedtime, or how you interact with social media. As this is a wholly positive transit, feel at liberty to lean into the changes.

Leo (July 22 – August 22)

This year, we have two new moons in the sign of Virgo, which rules your second house of earned income and financial resources. The first lunation is on August 23rd and falls at zero degrees of that sign. The second one is an eclipse at 29* of Virgo. There’s a lot happening for you around how you earn a living. You may be making decisions about how you earn your income at this time, or the causes to which you devote your resources.

New moons tend to usher in beginnings, so it could be that you receive a job offer or a contract with a new client around the end of the month. The first new moon is in a square to Uranus, so something may catch you off guard, but both new lunations are largely positive. I think you’ll be happy with the changes.

Virgo (August 22 – September 22)

The Sun will enter the sign of Virgo at 2:33 pm MT on August 22nd. This transit occurs once a year for about four weeks. The sun sheds light and warmth wherever it goes, so it’s time for you to bask in your own light. This is a wonderful time to renew commitments you’ve made to yourself (you could even make a list, Virgo) or contemplate the ways you want to grow over the next year. Most people wait until New Year’s Eve to make these sorts of deals with themselves, but doing so closer to your solar return will go a long way towards helping you keep the promises you make.

The very next day, on August 23rd, there’s a lovely new moon in Virgo that will help you envision the Virgo you’re becoming and how it’s different from the Virgo you’ve been in the past. It’s safe to lean into growth at this time.

Libra (September 22 – October 22)

Libras can find the balance and the harmony in almost any situation, making them talented artists. Between August 8th and August 10th, something profound may happen between you, your art, (or your creative self-expression), and your community. Mars, transiting through your first house of self, identity, vitality, and appearance will complete a grand trine between Uranus and Pluto in your 5th house of arts, leisure, and athleticism and your 11th house of friends, networks, and community, respectively. This is a very powerful transit happening amongst planetary heavyweights.

You may be driven to create new art for a new audience. Or, something about the art you’re already creating is speaking to an unintended audience. At a minimum, evaluate how the things you create interact with your community at large. If inspiration strikes, give yourself permission to listen to the ideas that spring forth.

Scorpio (October 22 – November 21)

Between August 8th and August 10th, Mars, the planetary ruler of the sign of Scorpio, will make four different aspects with heavy outer planets. This is highly unusual, and these three days may be impactful for you. Mars starts with a trine to Uranus, then oppositions to Saturn and Neptune, then a final trine to Pluto.

A project you’re working on may face sudden and simultaneous advantages and setbacks. One avenue of approach may become blocked while another, equally attractive one opens up somewhere else. This is not the time to jam-pack your calendar. If things are going to go sideways, you’ll want whitespace to help you pivot. The final trine to Pluto suggests that all ends well, but these few days could bring some headaches your way.

Sagittarius (November 21 – December 21)

As a Sagittarius, you’re known as a storyteller. No one can flow together dates, themes, messages, or allegories quite the way you can. On August 9th, a full moon in Aquarius and your third house of writing, communication, and short-distance travel will help you close the final chapter on a story you’ve been working on.

Remember that full moons bring completion and new moons bring initiations. Whatever you’re wrapping up may relate back to the new moon that occurred in Aquarius on January 29th. What were you starting around that time? What are you planning on releasing in early August? Whatever it is, congratulate yourself on a lesson learned and a cycle evolved.

Capricorn (December 21 – January 19)

On the evening of August 11th, Saturn, the planetary ruler of the sign of Capricorn, will make a sextile with Uranus. These are large, outer planets that don’t usually interact, so when they do, it’s a big deal. Saturn made the first sextile with Uranus back on April 4th, and it will make a third and final sextile on January 19, 2026.

As a Capricorn, you tend to delight in standard operating procedures. You appreciate (more than most) the ways an orderly process can structure your days or your projects. When Saturn sextiles Uranus, you may find joy in a new organizational system. Just because you love a good process flow doesn’t mean you can’t ever adapt it. Give yourself permission to experiment with a new system.

Aquarius (January 19 – February 18)

The Aquarius full moon on August 9th will fall in your first house of self, identity, appearance, and vitality. Think back to what was happening in your life around the end of January, earlier this year. A project you started then may be nearing completion by the time of the full moon. New moons bring initiations, while full moons bring culminations.

However, Saturn (the ruler of this full moon) is directly opposite Mars, which tells me that not everything is as it seems. Some part of this project has been overlooked or will need to be revised in order to meet the needs of current circumstances. This full moon should bring more of a hiccup rather than a catastrophic delay. Mind your P’s and Q’s (you’re great with details anyway!)

Pisces (February 18 – March 20)

Jupiter, the planetary ruler of Pisces, will make a conjunction with Venus, the planet of love, beauty, sweetness, arts, and aesthetics, in Cancer! This will happen in your fifth house of creativity, arts, athletics, and entertainment. You can look forward to a burst of creativity, or, if you’re the sort of person who sells their art or creative works, a surprise buyer may appear out of nowhere.

If you don’t sell or produce art, make time for it in some other way. Visit your local art of handicraft museum. Watch a film that’s been sitting on your watch list for weeks or pull that dusty poetry book off the shelf. Art is how we adorn space on this planet, and its presence can have special meaning during life’s seasons.

Leo Season Ritual: The Mane Event

A high-powered, hair-positive celebration of your radiance

What you’ll need:

  • Your favorite cannabis strain for confidence or elevation (try Mimosa, Strawberry Cough, or Lemon Haze)
  • A comb, brush, or styling tool
  • Optional: hair oil, glitter, clips, or anything extra that makes you feel like royalty
  • A mirror
  • A candle (gold, orange, or yellow works well)
  • A place where you can turn up the drama, like a bathroom, vanity, or sunny patio
  1. Spark and Set the Intention

Light your joint or take a hit from your piece. Then light the candle and say: “I call in the power of the Sun, the lion, and my crown. I honor my mane and everything it has seen me through.”

  1. The Crown Ritual

Gently brush, comb, or style your hair with intention. Whether you are detangling curls, adding braids, fluffing your fro, smoothing your strands, or letting your wild hair fly free, treat the act with reverence.

As you move through the process, say or think: “Each strand holds a story. Each lock is a flame. This is my crown. This is my power.”

If you feel called to, add oil or glitter. Bonus points if you sing or hype yourself up in the mirror while you do it.

  1. Mirror Magic

Look at yourself with bold, loving eyes. Say three affirmations aloud, such as:

“I am radiant by nature.”

“My presence turns heads.”

“I don’t dim. I dazzle.”

  1. Solar Soak (Optional)

If the sun is shining, step into it and let it warm your hair. Imagine golden light charging every strand with Leo-level magnetism. SPF is always recommended.

If you’re indoors, close your eyes and visualize your scalp glowing from within. Imagine your aura expanding with volume and light.

  1. Seal It In

Blow out the candle and say: “I walk with shine. I move with pride. My crown is sacred and untamed.”

Then take a picture, strut around the block, or call someone who needs to see how incredible you look.
